We'll start with the dogs. Some people are either "dog people" or "cat people". I guess I'm both - and maybe even a "ferret person" too. But, my dogs are the most important to me, and I love them to pieces. Each of them has their own unique personality and temperament. Here goes nothing...
Lucy is a 3 year old English Yellow Lab. She weighs about 63 pounds. Lucy is a very typical lab - she loves everyone and everything. She is smart in the sense that she trains quickly, but is not "clever". Lucy is loyal, goofy, and gentle (other than her out of control wiggle bum and whip of a tail). She LOVES kids, and knows a lot of tricks. Lucy knows how to sit, shake, double shake (both paws), lay down, speak (loud bark), quiet (small bark), high five, high ten, fruit loop (spin clockwise), cheerio (spin counter clockwise)....and I'm sure I'm forgetting some. Lucy is an amazing companion, and although I wish that she listened better sometimes, I think she's one of the best dogs ever!
Molly is our 2 year old mutt - we think that she is a shepherd, border collie mix? Maybe some lab in there? Who knows. She has little rottie eyebrows, which led us to think that perhaps she was part rottie when she was a puppy....but she is only about 45 pounds now that she is full grown. We adopted Molly from a high kill shelter in Tennessee, through PAWS New England. She is an amazing dog - Molly is incredibly intelligent, and required almost no training to be a perfect pet. She stays by our side, listens when we tell her to do something, and learns quickly. Molly is completely obsessed with playing fetch, and will do so for hours on end. Molly's favorite trick is "show me your belly", where she rolls over for some belly rubs.
Abby is a 10 month old mutt - we originally thought that she was mostly lab, but she is pretty much full grown and is only 40 pounds. She is all white except for the rims of her ears which have tannish spots on them. We think maybe she's part setter? Who knows! She's awfully cute. Abby is our first "foster failure" - we fostered her whole litter, and I couldn't let her leave. She is a very typical little sister to Lucy and Molly - she's obnoxious, annoying, and constantly wants to play. She likes to sleep on top of Lucy and Molly, and climbs all over them to wake them up. Abby can be bratty sometimes, but is generally a pretty good girl. She is goofy, and super sweet. She likes to sleep in bed with us, and prefers to try to weasel her way directly in between Pete and I, to obtain maximum warmth. I would let her, except that she will try to push me off the bed in the middle of the night. Abby likes to play fetch with Molly, and also likes to chew dog beds to pieces.
Coming soon...."The Cats". Stay Tuned!
Here are some pictures of our girls - Enjoy!!
